Alexander Jalso: The Hungarian Ministerial Association of Pittsburgh and Vicinity

mm Our president is Rev. Miklós Novak, and secretary/ treasurer Rev. Alexander Jalso. The members are (in alphabetic order): Revs. Daniel J. Borsay, Dr. John Butosi, Alexander Jalso, Dr. Aladár Komjáthy, Paul Kovács, Miklós Novak, Julius Paal, Joseph Posta, Bela Sohajda, and Denes Tamas. We had guests: Revs. Harry E. Hull, serving the Hungarian Reformed Church UCC in Johnstown, PA; Robert Kennedy, serving the Hungarian Reformed Church UCC in Homestead, PA: Charles Martin Limpar, serving the Hungarian Reformed Church UCC in Springdale, PA. The frequency of our meeting is not determined by the by-laws thus we meet as our schedules permit. In 1994 we met at the First Hungarian Reformed Church UCC, Pittsburgh, when our host was Dr. Aladar Komjáthy, on April 11th, and at the home of Rev. Paul Kovács in Ligonier, PA on December 27th. It is almost a tradition that we finish the year by meeting at the Kovács residence and costume with great joy the delicaties of Mrs. Edith Kovács’ culinary art; the crispy, roasted piglet with the proper side dishes which enhance the flavor of the main course. The meat and vegetables are washed down with the variety of beverages, each of us according to his or her liking. We part with friendly greetings, good wishes, and high expectations concerning the coming new year. Rev. Daniel J. Borsay has been rendering an outstanding service as the director of the Hungarian Radio Ministry. He followed the footsteps of the late Rev. Louis Illés who was also excellent in this field. Our meeting begings with a meditation presented by the host, followed by reading the minutes and the treasurer’s report. The current issues and upcoming important events are discussed with great interest and vitality. Recently Rev. Julius Paal analyzed and evaluated the report of Dr. Bishop Lorant Hegedűs as published in the Reformátusok Lapja. As the years pass we do not meet as often as in the “good old days” when we entertained and learned from each other about eight times a year.
