The threat of non-existence has been lurking around our Church for more than two decades. In 1968, seven years before the election of the present Pastor, the Chief Elder called the membership to show their faith through their responsible action. He especially emphasized it in the field of faithful church attendance, financial support, and cooperation in the services of the Church among the young. „The above items,” he said, „are our major problems. You and you alone can change this. We need your help or else, we may face the future which now looks bleak. We do not want to close the doors of our Church. ” Ten years later, in 1978, our 70th anniversary album bore the telling title, „To be or not to be.” It also listed seven signs of a dying church which accurately described our situation. Myself, as the new Pastor, felt like the little boy who stuck his finger in the hole of Amster-Dam when the mighty breakers of the sea were about to sweep it away. McKeesport, pa Pastor: Dr. Eva M.
