McKEESPORT, PA Pastor: Rev. D. Daniel J. Borsay Church: 101 University Drive, McKeesport, PA 15132 Tel: (412) 672-7298 The Rev. Daniel J. Borsay was duly installed in late January. The previous pastor, the Rev. Denes Tamas had gone into retirement. He is presently living in rural West Virginia where he enjoys the beauty of God’s creation far from the industrial centers and sprawling urban complexes. We have continued to hold regular worship services both English and Hungarian throughout the entire year. We have only had one funeral: Emma Fury whose father was a founding member of the church, died suddenly while visiting relatives in Atlanta. The Lord Jesus said, „Let the children come to me” and come they did: We baptized four children this year — Michael Christopher Farraro, Jason Francis Gerzsenyi, Nathan Dale Tkach, and Danielle Nicole LaRue. John and Mary Sparico were wed in our church this year during a very special ceremony in which mostly small children participated. The Lord’s Supper was celebrated during the appropriate holidays and communion given to those who requested it. We held a Bible study during the Lenten season which was faithfully attended by a small group. We have mostly small children 12 years old and much younger in our Sunday School which is very ably run by Mary Brindza. She is also helped by Norma Jordanhazy. Although we do not have high school age youth, we do have a Young Adults’ Circle. This group got started in the spring and as one of its projects took the children of the church to the Pisstburgh Zoo, one of the finest zoological gardens of its kind in the world. In May we held a Strawberry and ice cream social to benefit the Transylvanian refugees in Hungary. From this event and subsequent fundraising we were able to give a thousand dollars to help these refugees in Hungary. In June, the church took on the formidable task of stuffing one hundred thousand envelopes with several pieces of literature for the Pittsburgh Regatta. Over 100 people helped and we worked from morning until night for three weeks straight. This immense effort brought the church $5,000. In August, the church participated in the International Village, a week-long affair designed to celebrate the ethnic diversity in our community. This event has grown stronger 189
