educational outreach program for neighborhood children in grade 1-6. The more than 25 volunteers who are actively involved in Calvin’s Corner believe that they can make a difference in the lives of the 60 to 80 children who attend. Church members also reach out to the hungry of our neighborhood by donating food to our emergency food pantry. This past summer sponsored a neighborhood picnic, serving a free hot dog-and-all-the fixins’ lunch to more than 300 people. In the area of spiritual growth, Rev. Ackermann leads both the adult Sunday school class and a Sunday evening Bible study. Both sessions are well attended. Those who attend have expressed their desire to learn more of the Bible and are strengthening their faith. A new stewardship emphasis has been developed and is being presented to church members. We are hopeful that this effort will result in an increased commitment of funds, time and talent to the church. Last December our Christian Education Director resigned. Volunteers quickly came to the fore to assume leadership. Through their efforts, attendance at Sunday school has increased considerably, and our junior and senior high school youth have joined forces and are actively participating in the life of our church. We are proud of our youth and recognize that the future of our church depends on them. Calvin United maintains its Hungarian tradition with a weekly Hungarian language worship service in additional to our English worship. The church is also active in the neighborhood’s annual ethnic festival, sponsorship of the Magyar Dancers of Toledo, and regular preparation of traditional Hungarian foods. As a footnote, we would like to congratulate A. Joseph Nagy as the approaches his 90th birthday. He continues his work as lay minister with love and vigor and is a vital link in our chain of faith. —0 139
