Pastor: Rev. Steven G. P. Strickler MANVILLE, NJ The Manville Reformed Church continues to grow and change. We received in eight new members, but also moved as many to the inactive list. Currently there are 80 active members. Sunday mornings the 9:30 a.m. English language is the most heavily attended, but there are still ten to fifteen people who regularly worship during the 11:30 a.m. Hungarian language service. A combination of tradition and innovation marks our church in the community. The Ladies Aid continues to open the doors of our church, as they have for years, to those outside our number by preparing wonderful dinners every other month. At recent dinners the ladies have been encouraging all members of our church to help in preparing and serving the meals. The Ladies Aid is also responsible for Talentums ’88. On the first Sunday in Lent everyone was „entrusted talents” ($10 worth!) according to Jesus’ parable of the talents (Matthew 25). They were then encouraged to use their talents to make their „talents” grow. From Lent until Advent, 93 people (not just confirmed members!) crafted, cooked and created in order to earn more with their $10 worth of „talent”. The first Sunday in Advent „accounts were settled”.
