BACSÓ OBSERVED THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS ORDINATION INTO THE CHRISTIAN MINISTRY In observance of the 50th anniversary of his ordination, Rev. Béla P. Bacsó preached at both the Magyar and English Worship Services at Calvin United Church of Christ, Toledo, Ohio on Father’s Day, June 16, 1985. Daughters: Rosalie Bacsó Gainer played the organ at the English Service; Elizabeth presented a résumé of her father’s “50 years in the ministry”; Ida Bacsó Hizer read Scripture, her husband, Ed Hizer video-taped the entire English Service. After graduating from Lancaster Theological Seminary in May of 1935, Rev. Bacsó was ordained into the Christian Ministry Sunday afternoon, June 16, 1935, at Magyar Reformed Church, now Calvin United Church of Christ, Toledo, Ohio by the Rev.Dr. Francis Újlaki, pastor of the Church, and by the officers of Northwest Ohio Classis of Ohio Synod of the Reformed Church of the U.S.A. After his ordination he was asked to serve as “interim pastor” at the Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain, Ohio for four months. Returning home to Toledo, he was united in marriage with Ida J. Tarczali, a graduate nurse, in the Magyar Reformed Church, Toledo, Ohio, by the Rev. Dr. Francis Újlaki on October 26, 1935. Their “50th wedding anniversary” was also observed and celebrated at Calvin United Church of Christ, Toledo. Ohio on October 26,, 1985. Rev. Bacsó began his full-time pastoral services at the Magyar Reformed Church, now Magyar United Church of Christ, Elyria, Ohio in December of 1935. From there he was called to the Hungarian Reformed Church of Gary, Indiana in 1939, where he initiated the English Worship Services. He also served as president of the Western Classis of Magyar Synod. In 1943 the Hungarian Reformed Church of Fairport Harbor, Ohio elected him pastor, where he served 14 and a Vi years.
