Bethlen Naptár, 1985 (Ligonier)

148 BETHLEN NAPTÁR called home. We praise God for the time he allowed us to share in their company. In addition to our mission with our people, we also must occasionally invest in our church building. This year our largest expense was the new storm windows. But in spite of this and the generous mission giving by our members, our congregation was able to show a small surplus at the end of the year. As each of us are unique creatures of God, so the Indiana Harbor congregation is unique in many ways. We have been charged by God to fulfill a certain charge at a specific time in history, and through the dedicated leadership of the congregation in the past we feel in some small measure we have been able to be part of the growth of the Kingdom of God. But the present and the future are even more important. Our congregation is led today by able and dedicated officers; the leaders of our ladies organizations, along with our officers, understand the call of Christ not as a “church” responsibility but as a way of life. This understanding of life has given our congregation the ability to continue working when many others have lost their purpose. We in Indiana Harbor look forward to continuing our participation in a revitalized Western Classis, and look to the other churches in Calvin Synod to open their hearts to the work of the Synod. While each of us is different, we are like the body where each has its function. Our Reformed understanding of the Christian Faith can only continue while we work together, each of us doing our own task, but always keeping the mind of Christ and awareness that we are not free to do as we wish, but we are mandated to be part of a greater body. Calvin Synod has been blessed with dedicated leadership; we have been blessed with the opportunity to be part of the Living Body of Christ.
