Bethlen Naptár, 1984 (Ligonier)

Kálvin Egyházkerület

1984 79 our Social Hall on the former church site. For over seven decade;, the congregation faced many struggles but we are grateful to the Lord that we are able to serve Him and our Hungarian brothers and sisters, some who are still arriving to this country, sponsored by our church. We are happy to report that the congregation and pastor are on a very cooperative basis and our first priority is to serve the Lord and witness His Word. Our church properties are in excellent condition. This year, the Mary Molnár Missionary Society supported our church by donating $3,000. Their bake sale and doughnut sale and Christmas Bazaar have all been successful. Twice a year, with the men of the church, we have Hungarian sausage and hurka sale that are profitable. Several times we had Fellowship Luncheons, as well. At our Ligonier Synod Convention Banquet, a special thanks had been expressed and a certificate of appreciation had been given to Mr. Joseph Szilagyi for his 40 years of service in our congregation as consistory member and as president of the church. In 1983, we baptized Melissa Sue Jones Matthew John Roth and Thomas James Roth, Jr. and a wedding ceremony had been performed for Joseph Kotsmar and Mona Sherry. We recognized two of our high-school graduates. Karen Barna has been accepted at Kings College in Wilkes Barre, Pa. and Csongor Mészáros had been accepted at the Medical University of Budapest, Hungary. We are very proud of our young people as they are pursuing their further studies. With the Coatsville and Phoenixville congregations, we celebrated our Reformation Day Service in Phoenixville. We are grateful for all the opportunities with which we are able to serve our Lord in the Bethlehem area. This is the 3rd year that Pastor Mészáros is serving the congregation while he is teaching at Penn State’s Allentown Branch.
