108 BETHLEN NAPTÁR UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST The new bulletin board of Joseph and Julia Szalai, donated by the Szalai and Varga families. Emery Szalai is a most generous architect brother who has designed the bell tower and supervised its construction. In addition to memorial donations to the bell fund, the members have contributed $11,500 for the support of the church, and $2,000 for benevolences and charitable causes, in addition to the synodical apportionment. In 1981 there was one christening, five marriages, and seven funerals. The sermons follow five chapters of the New Testament or ten chapters of the Old Testament consecutively. The Congregation is following the Bible through in this systematic sequence the second time. An ever increasing joy is in the coffee fellowship hour after the morning service. Seven times a year, after Holy Communion, there is a buffet luncheon. The children are especially happy when they are surrounded by joyful, noisy, loving adults. The officers of the congregation are: Chief Elder, Elmer Charles; Vice Presidents, James Beganyi and Julius Telegdy; Secretary, Mrs. Emma Beganyi; Treasurer, Walter Severa; Elders: George Charles, Gusztáv Cserr, Charles Ecker, Terry Ellis, Elmer Kish, Kalman Morucz, Mrs. Emma Kovács. James Mozga, Robert Nameth, Mrs. Kathy Severa, August Vedro, Mrs. Betty Vedro, Steve Üveges and Mrs. Terry Ellis. The Hungarian Service is at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by the English Service at 10:00, which is followed by the coffee fellowship. We have a Bible study every first Tuesday of the month; the Ladies’ Aid Society meets every first Wednesday, the Consistory every third Sunday after the English Service.
