1983 103 Confirmation 1982 -— The candidates with the Pastor Some Higlights of Our Church Year. Our worship services were greatly enriched by the purchase of new hymnals. Our Organist, Elder Mrs. Barbara Ruhe enthusiastically organized and administered this project. We dedicated our new Hymnals on Thanksgiving Sunday. Advent celebrations have always been special events in our Church. This year the beautiful artwork of Miss Dianne Shaw inspired in us a greater understanding of the four hymns of the season, the Magnificat, the Benedictus, the Gloria in Excelsis and the Nunc Dimittis. Her exquisite posters are great treasures of our Church. At the annual fall meeting of the Central Classis we enjoyed the scholarly address of Prof. Dr. James A. Walther of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. The old ties of Prof. Walther and our Church were renewed and our fellowship celebrated. The last Sunday of the year was marked by an open house at the Parsonage, a family night program and a Bible exhibition. 1982 was election year in our Consistory. While the officers and three Consistory members remained the same, we elected four new Elders and two alternates, twelve altogether. Eleven regular and four special meetings were held. Much credit and sincere appreciation should be given to our old faithful ones, especially to Mr. Richard W. Kyslinger and Mr. John Bertok, Jr., who have been serving on our board for almost two decades.
