portions of the sanctuary roof. A capital funds drive for $7,000.00 was immediately launched to pay for emergency repair. The emergency has been met and paid for.

The Ladies’ Aid Society under the leadership of Mrs. Helen Gergely, president, and Ms. Mary Pandak, vice president, continued their amazing and blessed work. In 1979 they contributed $11,000.00 to the church in cash gifts. On September 21st we observed the 15th anniversary of the building of our new sanctuary with a festive church service and dinner. Together with the anniversary gift the roof project gift and other gifts the Ladies’ Aid have contributed over $7,000.00 thus far this year to the church. The church finance for the year 1979 were income: $172,584.24. Disbursements: $208,088.10. Balance Dec. 31, 1979: $20,624.91.

We are thankful to God for his many blessings and for the great potential he has shown to us, if we would but rise and work in his vineyard.

Gyülekezetünk fennmaradása Isten kegyelméből van. East Chicago városa harminc év alatt 56.000 lakosból — 1970-ben — 39.500 lélekre apadt. Az utóbbi húsz éven belül megszűnt a presbiteri, az episzkopális, a methodista gyülekezet, valamint az egyetlen izraelita hitközség is. A fehérek és a feketék száma csökken, egyedül a spanyol anyanyelvűek száma emelkedik. Az acélmunkások száma kereken 31.000 — gyüleke-Ebédelnek női munkásaink.
