1981 BETHLEN NAPTÁR 79 Presentation of the $2,000.00 gift to the Bethlen Home. Rev. Paul Kovács, Rev. Stephen J. Nagy, Mrs. Bethel Nagy, Mrs. Paul Kovács, Mr. AlexJ. Mészáros Sr. (főgondnok). — November 2, 1980. We insulated the church ceiling, rebuilt a new gable type roof over the 1953 addition which had a problem flat roof, we had all the brickwork of our building remortared (tuck-pointed), sand blasted also. We have a beautiful ornamental iron fence newly installed across the front of the church yard, new carpeting in church, offices, Sunday school rooms, new lighting and dropped ceilings, padded the church pews, painted all rooms, new drapes, protective glass and plastic over all windows new privacy fence on two sides of the back church yard. We had three new heating systems installed all with air-conditioning. Also a new public address system. New altar cloths, and many more things. But most of all we are proud to say: our attendance is better than it has been for 30 years, and that 70% of the congregation attends church every Sunday! Praise God we are spiritually sound! We have children again! We have resurrected the Sunday School. Which had been closed. We have five children in the Confirmation Class. We have Bible study every Wednesday night. The average attendance is 15 persons. And finally we have the church bells ringing again. The “Big” bell (1908) was silent for 17 years. After strengthening the tower, it was rededicated 70 years later to the date, November 26, 1978. The second bell from the “Drakes-Congo Vidéki Magyar Református Egyház” Church was purchased by this congregation, and now peals as a reminder to many of this congregation that once had its roots there. It was rededicated on Easter, April 15, 1979. The “Little” bell was installed in honour of Rev. Stephen Nagy, on the occasion of his ordination which Rev. Stephen Nagy when he received his Master of Div. Degree.
