Bethlen Naptár, 1981 (Ligonier)

Egyesült Államok - Kálvin Egyházkerület

1981 BETHLEN NAPTAR 99 Members of the Consistory. of our members who have married out of our denomination have spouses who share their deep interest in the Whiting Hungarian congregation, and volunteer their time and talents to help in church projects. This past year we had several baptisms, and confirmed four young adults as members of the church after two years of instruction. Unfortunately, we also had several members called home by God, members whom we sorely miss, though they have received their eternal reward from our Lord. Our congregation has redoubled its efforts to participate with other sister churches in their celebrations, a reflection of their dedication to the Lord. In our own congregation we have our usual “Hungarian” fundraisers, with our Ladies Aid preparing excellent stuffed cabbage and home-made noodles. The men contribute with their Hungarian kolbász; we offer these items at our Annual Picnic, our Whiting Frontier Days, and on several ocassions during the year at the congregation level in local dinners and bake sales, in addition to our Annual Bazaar. As in the past, our congregation supports the community by donating and distributing food baskets at Christmas, collecting clothing, and supporting mission churches in South America, in addition to sending money to the Bethlen Home. We are this year looking forward to the 50th Anniversary of our Ladies Aid organization, and ask the Lord’s Grace that we may be able to continue serving this community as we have in the past.
