BETHLEN ALMANAC 165 HOLLYWOOD, California Our pastor, the Rev. Dezső Trombitás, arrived in Los Angeles on March 1 and was elected pastor on May 10. The congregation entered the Hungarian Reformed Church In America on July 20, 1958. Some 250 people gather for worship weekly. Hundreds shared in our First Anniversary when we proclaimed our abiding interest in cooperation with all Hungarians, regardless of religious differences. In 1959 thus far 2 infants were baptised and 2 Reformed couples were united in marriage. The Board of Elders receives much aid through the untiring efforts of the Women’s Group, the Youth Fellowship and the Sunday School. WINDSOR, Ont., Canada The Church in Windsor celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1958. It was a memorable day of thanksgiving. The Congregation has been steadily advancing right from the beginning. In 1944 it purchased a church edifice with a parsonage entirely by itself. Now, preparations are in progress for the 15th anniversary of the purchase of our church building. The reorganization of the Young People Society was another encouraging sign in 1959. The officers are all Canadian-born. The purpose of the reorganization has been that the youth through this young people’s society should take an adequate place in the service of our Church and should help our adjustment to the Canadian environment and church life according to the spiritual needs of the younger generation. SAN FRANCISCO, California The only real independent and self-supporting Hungarian organization in the great San Francisco area is our Church. We have a Congregational Center, which is really the place of all Hungarian Church and social activities in our city. The Church Council and different organizations connected with our church have shown increased activities during the past year. An original new experiment of our Church is the newly created photo club for our young people. It is a modern approach to young people not interested in church work to be reached by this fellowship of our young people. In the fall of 1959 the church building will be dedicated in the presence of our church leaders and the representatives of the Hungarian Reformed Federation. This Church has been supported by the Mission Board of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America for the past three years. Sunday Congregation, San Francisco. Board of Elders in front row.
