Bethlen Almanac
154 BETHLEN ALMANAC Sunday School Teachers, Roebling, N. J. in 1958. Much attention was given to the religious education of our children. Our Sunday School had about 35 on its roll led by 6 teachers. There is a separate adult class for those already in High School conducted by the pastor. During the last two years of its existence the following were discussed: Heidelberg Catechism, Constitution and By-Laws of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, and the Sermon on the Mount. Every Sunday we have an extra collection in our Church Service for the missions of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. Our Sunday School children have supported a mission station in Kerala, India since 1957. Our missionary the Rev. Alimuotil Joseph Mathew is well-known to our Sunday School children due to his personal visit in 1956 while a post-graduate student at Princeton. Kerala was under Communist authority until recently and we have followed the events there with our prayers and meditations. The Famous Hungarian Recipes published by our Young Women’s Guild has reached, its fifth and revised edition. The Choirs of our Church were revived due to the service rendered by Mrs. Audrey Emri our new choir director. The Lorántffy Zsuzsanna Women’s Aid Society has continued its vigorous activities. The porch of the parsonage was covered by aluminum jalousies in the summer of 1959. The Chief Elder of our Church, Mr. Stephen Wargo, has been reelected as Classical delegate to the Synod, while the Vice Chief Elder Frank Nagy was elected Secretary of the Eastern Classis Elders Association. Roebling Sunday School Children make donations for Missionary Work in India.
