Bethlen Almanac

54 BETHLEN ALMANAC The Bethlen Home SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT Although the first half of 1959 was marked a general economic recession which effected charitable giving immediately, our Home not only didn’t feel the slow down but by the grace of God we gained materially. We also advanced spiritually. Our year was peaceful. We did our best to care for the needs of those entrusted to our care and The Rev. and Mrs. Alexander Daroczy if we failed in any way it was more due to inexperience than the lack of good will. The peaceful and successful closing of the year I attribute to my fellow workers and the governing bodies of our Home, especially to the Board of Managers for its wise guidance and supervision. My report is as follows: People: As of January 1 there were 65 people under our care in the two branches of the Home. There were 45 in the Old Peoples Home (20 men and 25 women) and in the Children’s Home there were 20 (12 boys and 8 girls). In order to maintain our property which is made up of 19 buildings and the farm, and is worth half a million dollars, we need a sizeable staff. Together with employees our entire Home family numbers 89 people. There are 18 employees, 7 in the Children’s Home and 11 in the Old Peoples Home.
