Highlights in Hungarian Life…
BETHLEN NAPTÁR 229 Highlights in Hungarian Life . . . GREATER MEANS TO GREATER GOALS CONCERNING A FEW MONTHS' LABORS Remarks by the Right Ret). George E. K. Borshy, President At the time these lines are written the new staff of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America has spent barely five months in office. It would therefore be premature to speak of its efforts as well as those of our Bethlen Home’s new Superintendent who has also spent just half a year in office. It is however important to note the enthusiasm which has characterized these few months and which raises our hopes for the future. First, and most worthy of note, is the union of the 50 year old First Hungarian Fraternal Organization of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with our organization. Over five hundred members were thus added to our rolls. Although this union was effected legally in December of 1956, the formal rite of union took place in February at the Magyar House which is now our common property. A large banquet was held and the members of the Fraternal Organization were guests. Our entire official staff as well as the Trenton District representatives were present for this occasion. On Palm Sunday we were in South Bend for the meeting of the Chicago District. At that time we commemorated the late Congressman Abraham Supreme Council of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America.
