Scholarships and grant in aids for students are available. The school aids its students in securing part-time jobs while they are enrolled at Elmhurst. Plans for a national American Hungarian library-museum to be erected at Elmhurst College were advanced by the directors of the American Hungarian Studies Foundation recently. Elmhurst College in suburban Chicago has the only Hungarian studies department in the United States. The proposed building would house the department’s growing library collection as well as museum items from early American and continental Hungarian life. At present, the Hungarian library numbers more than three thousand volumes and periodicals. Recently, a private collection of four hundred volumes was donated. Similar gifts are expected in the near future. The museum building will also include a “Hall of Fame” dramatising the outstanding and successful contributions which famous and unknown men and women of Hungarian descent have made to American life. Preliminary drawings for the library-museum building have been completed. It is hoped that through gifts from friends and benefactors that the magnificent building will be erected within the next three years. Az Amerikai Magyar Tanulmányi Alapítvány (American Hungarian Studies Foundation támogatja az elmhursti kollégium magyar szakosztályát, amely egyetlen a maga nemében az Egyesült Államokban. Az alapítvány most egy Elmhurstben, Chicago külvárosában, felállítandó magyar könyvtár és muzeum épületnek a tervén dolgozik. Az 1955-56, tanévben hét amerikai államból 32 magyar származású fiú és leány hallgató érkezett Elmhurst Collegeba. Ebben az iskolában már tizennégy éve áll fenn egy magyar szakosztály. A kollégiumban nemcsak magyar, hanem más származású diákok is választják a magyar nyelvet, irodalmat és történelmet tantárgyként. A főiskolának 780 hallgatóia van. A tervezett múzeumi épületben helyeznék el a kollégium magyar könyvtárát valamint az eddig összegyűjtött magyar élet múzeumi értékű emlékeit. Ez a muzeum és könyvtár őrizné meg az amerikai magyar élet hagyományait, könyveit, iratait, tevékeny munkások neveit és muzeum tárgyait. Az alapítvány célja, hogy vagyonát a következő években $50,000.00 emelje, hogy felállíthassa ezt a gyönyörű muzeum és könyvtár épületet.
