blessed our work bountifully. We can happily report that of a total indebtedness of $89,000.00 on Dec. 31, 1944, we now have left a debt of only $29,000.00. This means that in six years we reduced the principal on our mortgage by $60,000.00. Together with interest, the total amount paid on our debt was $77,000.00.

However, our debt will again be increased in the near future, since our Board of Directors decided to enlarge both of our homes to meet our needs and requests for admission. The number of first generation men and women of our faith and of the Federation is constantly rising. We must provide for them if they request a home in their old age. To meet this need, we plan to build a new addition to our Old People’s Home accommodating 26 more guests. The cost of this building will be about $60,000.00.

Since we are a charitable organization, we should also like to extend our charity toward D. P. full orphans still in Germany. To do this, our Board of Directors decided to bring to our home 25 of these unfortunate, parentless children of our faith, who will live in the Children’s Home. To provide adequate housing for them, we shall also have to build an addition to our Children’s Home. Our total building project will amount to $75,000.00.

With God’s help, as well as with the help of the first and second generations in our churches, we can do this also for His glory.

(May I urge the young people’s groups and Women’s Guilds to support our project by helping us to furnish our new rooms. In recognition of your work, the Bethlen Home will place your name plaque on the door of the particular room which you helped furnish. The building cost of each room will be $1,000.00, while the cost of furnishing each room will be about $250.00.
