Joseph Kecskeméthy: On in the bonds of Christian love

BETHLEN NAPIAK 243 25, 1949), the bulk of which has been gratefully acknowledged by the recipients. In all, the material shipped to date had a total weight of 803 pounds, was sent to me by 211 Women’s Guilds and each parcel was personally acknowledged by letter. It might interest you to know that 148 skeins of embroidery floss make a half pound. Thus, it was roughly estimated that at least 75,000 skeins of embroidery floss alone were shipped overseas. Many guilds and individuals sent gifts of money to defray shipping costs, while the Bethlen Home, also reaching out in compassion and love toward those in need, met the bulk of these expenses, in addition to those of shipping hundreds of clothing parcels to about five hundred orphans in Hungarian orphanages and to DP’S in Austria, Germany, Bavaria and Italy. The countless parcels were all made ready for shipping by our own retired ministers’ wives, living with us at Bethlen Home. Thus, they too, have taken an active share in this great Christian service. The floss project is by no means over. Parcels keep coming in. The letters of acknowledgement and gratitude which we receive, testify to the fact that this work has alleviated much physical need. What a splendid example our friends have shown us women of Hungarian descent! Unselfishly, prayerfully, they extend their hands and their hearts to those in need, regardless of national boundaries or language differences. They teach us one great lesson: WE ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST. Our Old People's Home
