To our second generation

52 BETHLEN NAPTÁR TO OUR SECOND GENERATION It is with a distinct feeling of pride that we initiate into our Bethlen Almanac a new section: a section in the English language, expressly meant for those who are not too familiar with the intricacies of the Hungarian tongue, the language of their parents. The first generation, responsible for the establishment of our Reformed Churches and our charitable institution, the Bethlen Home, is slowly dropping out. This generation is leaving to you as a rich heritage, those fine institutions for which they sacrificed an untold amount of time, energy and money. These institutions, representative of the best spiritual qualities of the first generation, cannot be left to deteriorate or to die out. They must continue to grow and develop to the glory of God, for whose glory they were originally conceived and built. You are slowly taking over... In turn and in time, you shall pass them on as a sacred heritage, to your own children, the third generation. Thus, the Bethlen Home, established twenty-seven years ago, our one and only Hungarian Reformed Children’s and Old People’s Home, will some day be completely under your care. Perhaps many of you have already had the sacred privilege of helping in its upkeep. There may be others of you who do not know enough about the Bethlen Home to have cared too much about it. We are sure, however, that you who are worthy children of worthy parents, will want to know your Bethlen Home and then share in its further development and growth. Members of the second and third generations, let us familiarize you with our work and our aims. We sincerely hope that you will find in the Bethlen Home much to be proud of, much good that you feel you should like to carry on. God bless you in your work for the Kingdom. BETHLEN HOME AIMS AND GUESTS The Bethlen Home of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, located in Ligonier, Pa., is a charitable institution for dependent children and old people.
