Dr. William Toth: Five Seasonal Prayers

BETHLEN NAPTÁR AZ 1945-IK ESZTENDŐRE 143. OLDAL bless that He comes to give power to the weak of spirit and increase their strength and that, like eagles soaring above the earth, we may through Him surmount the difficulties of our life. Blessed art Thou, 0 God, that He comes to reveal the love, with which Thou didst so love the world, not to pass judgement upon our sinfulness but rather that through Him the world might be saved. Look down upon Thy people, 0 God, with compassion and mercy. As ever men needed this revelation of Thyself, our generation surely cannot abide without it. We seek mercy before Thy face. We would share in the purity, the purpose and peace of His life. Like Him, we long to be builders of a new world, in which, instead to the thorn shall come up the fir-tree and instead of the briar shall come up the myrtle tree. Surely Thy creative Word in us shall not return void and leave our lives desolate. Surely Thy word shall become flesh and blood and live among us forever, abounding in blessing and truth. Grant us then a luminous spirit of penitence, we beseech Thee, our Father. May we wait for the coming day with hearts cleansed of all unworthy desires and all unholy aspirations. May our windows of worship be open toward Thee to receive Thy light. May our hands carry consecrated devotion to Thine altars. May we not falter in our purpose to go, everyone of us, with Thy children everywhere to Bethlehem, which shall be to us all the beginning of a new, a higher, a more Christ-like life. Hear us in our prayers, good Father, and bless us through Christ our Savior. Amen. Advent III How we longed to enter Thy house, eternal God, everlasting Father through our Lord Jesus Christ! Afar from the turmoil of the days we are happy to sit in Thy presence even for these few moments and breathe in the stillness of Thy spirit. We would be still that we might know Thee as Thou art. We would see Thee, 0 Almighty, from whose hands have come the glorious heavens, the stars, the sun and the moon and who hast created us into a world of stupendous powers and breath-taking beauty. We would see Thee, 0 allwise God, who dost map out the course of Thy creation and who hast provided for our life as well. We would see Thee, loving Father, as.Thou dost offer the tokens of Thy forgiveness and, as far as the east is from the west, go Thou dost remove our offenses from us. Blessed be Thy holy name
