- 10 Central Institutes and Departments Rather than be restricted to one faculty, lectures and exercises to students of all the faculties of this University are delivered by institutes and departments outside faculties. Central institutes and departments, as well as the Training Nuclear Reactor offer education in physics, nuclear power, nuclear physics, social sciences, pedagogy of engineering, foreign languages and physical education. Central institutes and departments cooperate with faculties in postgraduate engineering education and in other courses. POSTGRADUATE ENGINEERING EDUCATION Graduate engineers may participate in postgraduate courses organized by faculties and by the Institute of Postgraduate Engineering Education to complement professional knowledge and to obtain a scientific degree. Special courses : imparting special knowledge for the implementation of research and development results, and new methods of engineering activity in courses, or according to individual programmes. Postgraduate engineering education : imparting recent knowledge in special fields to engineers graduated from this University. Speciálist engineering education : two-year courses imparting toplevel theoretical and practical knowledge in a speciality, and issuing certificates. Education to achieve a doctorate : enabling participants joining research at a given department or institute to do independent research The independent research is recapitulated in a Thesis. Studies last three years.
