Abstracts RADU LUPESCU The Artistic Way of Expression Political Views in Kolozsvár in the Middle of the 15lh Century In the middle of the 15th century Kolozsvár became the unique centre of expression political views through the arts, artistic implements. This was resulted partly by external factors derived from the events happened in other parts of the country, on the other hand by the internal divided state of the city in the field of politics. The shape of the city amidst the huge constructions reflected accurately for the complicated internal political relations of Kolozsvár. Thus the present paper aims to study the tight relationships between the politics and artistic products. In essence, it was under the rule of King László V when the role of the court in case of art patronage decreased, while the importance of the aristocracy and the cities gradually grew in that domain. Similar to other cities of the Hungarian Kingdom, Kolozsvár turned to be an enormous building site: construction of the parish church entered to the last phase, reconstruction of the Dominican monastery got started; numerous town-houses took a spectacular form and all of these buildings were encircled by the new wall. The political battles of that period, which took place in national and local levels as well, left their mark on the new buildings. Several epigraphs and coat of arms prove the political positions taken up by the citizens, which illustrate well the increased role of Kolozsvár in the history of Transylvania. Similar processes can be identified in case of other cities as well. Kassa played key role in the Northern part of Upper Hungary and the epigraph located in the parish church - and belongs to the genre of the chronicles written on walls - is memento of loyalty to László V. From the aspect of the genre and the political message the epigraph situated in the parish church of Lőcse can be considered as a similar memento. The elements of the heraldic representation in case of the monumental fresco which ornaments the sanctum of the parish church of Szeben are analogous to the said epigraph in Kolozsvár. These examples form characteristic and spectacular ways of expression political standpoints and reflect accurately that eventful period of the Hungarian history in the middle of the 15'h century.
