Proclamation on the formation of the Budapest National Committee and the appointment of the mayor January 22nd, 1945 To the people of the City of Budapest! A Budapest National Committee has been set up, composed of delegates of the Independent Smallholders’, Farm-workers’ and Civic Party, the Hungarian Communist Party, the Na­tional Peasant Party, the Trade Unions and the Social Democratic Party, and this Com­mittee will exercise power in the liberated territory of the City of Budapest until the Hun­garian Government assumes authority. Dr. János Csorba, former member of Parliament, a resident of Budapest, has been ap­pointed mayor of the City of Budapest with effect from January 21st, 1945. The mayor is instructed to secure the recognition of the district national committees as political and advisory bodies by the district magistracies. 2.
