As for how the construction work of the Wekerle estate concluded, 1 do not know, because since leaving this useful and instructive area of my work, I never saw it again...’ KdrolyK°s'letter to József Kerényi, 27* November, 1974.. The design of the main square, as made by Kós, relied on and developed the structure of medieval Transylvanian cities. He bridged over some of the roads arriving in the square with gate-like structures, which resulted in a stronger sense of enclosure. While the scale and dimensions of the individual buildings was uniform, diversity was granted by the actual formulation of the houses, designed by different architects - a method agreed to by Kós himself. The middle of the square was meant to be occupied by a large community centre surrounded by a park. The whereabouts of the original designs are unknown. 11 Site plan - concept, 1912.
