THE OSTRICH HOUSE HI Elevation BFL XV.17.d.328 KT szor 1/76-1 H The Ostrich house in 1914 Magyar Építőművészet, 1912.11-12. A. Pál Veres DESTROYED in the corner we find the somewhat lower Ostrich House, with its lively colours and the surrounding runs, suitably spacious for these enormous birds. The house itself was decorated in the Egyptian style!M£ ,909 6U There was a circular wing adjoining the rectangular house. The structure of the building, with its thatched roof and mud walls resembles the architecture of the Alföld (Great Hungarian Plain) region, but the individual ornamental details, such as the two large arved African-style posts lend it an exotic air. The building was destroyed after World War Two. The African-style carved poles were recarved in the 1990's and placed in front of the new Bison House. 110
