The college always tried invest a reasonable sum ot funds in to the upkeep of the vineyards, however the average yield became less and less until the college made a loss. Therefore, it was advisable to sell most of the vineyards and convert the money into capital and invest it in the college's banking institute. The management of the college's wine The college's viticulture had 3 important functions: 1. The continuous supply of the college's pubs with wine and fruit brandy. 2. Keeping and selling the wine donated to the college. 3. It had to ensure the payment in kind to the college's professors, officials and servants. The wine was treated expertly in the college's cellars. There were several types of wine from different sources eg. oblatum: wine gifted to the college, allódiális: wine made in the college's vineyards, congestum: wine donated, emptum: wine bought from tradesmen, ordinarum: ordinary wine. About 200-500 barrels of wine were kept in the cellars a year. The largest amount of wine was given to the college's pubs until they were closed down. Eventually it became desirable to sell the must made from the grapes rather than make it into wine. The-making provided the college with a considerable income for a number of decades. The college's pubs The colleges viticultive and its pubs were in close relation with one an­other, as the wine was made in the college's vineyards, kept in its cellars and sold in its pubs. It can be said that the success of the pubs was a subordinate to the success of the grape harvest and the wine production. The pubs were run by students whose responsibility was to measure out the wine, administer the distribution of wine to the workers of the college as a payment in kind. The college's pubs were so successful before 1811, that they provided 15­30% of the total income. However, their success began to decline of that pros­perous period and ended in leasing the pubs, then closing them down. Donations Donations made up about 10-15% of the college's income. Different col­leges had several areas assigned to them where donations could be collected. The
