DATA TO THE HISTORY OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IN THE VILLAGE KARCSA Géza Nagy The village Karcsa is one of the oldest villages in Bodrogköz. Till the abolition of serfdom it had been part of the estate owned by the squire in Pácin, and people had nearly always been feuding with him because of his illegal acts. In vain did they lay complaints at the county hall and district council, no justice had ever been done to them, they had never managed to redress their squire’s abuses. As early as the last century the village had belonged together with five other villages in Bodrogköz to the Office of District-Notary of Nagykövesd administratively, then in 1908 it was transferred to the newly formed Office of District-Notary of Kiskövesd belonging to it till 1919. 318
