Introduction A properly prepared bibliography may be a useful support for research activities of different purposes. Unfortunately, Baranya county has no comprehensive general bibliography, yet its media bibliography justifies the benefits of such works. The former bibliographies of the town of Pécs (by Cseke and by Reuter) are still up-to-date from some aspects, but not up to the modern requirements any more. The city has no special bibliographies at all. Numismatics is considered as an auxiliary science of history, since it contains a special scope of knowledge of the latter. Numismatics actually can preserve the historical events happening in time and space in a special way. It therefore often contains unique and requisite source data and its iconographie features are able to fill up time and space with life. Our current work was aimed at publishing the numismatic literature on the town of Pécs and on Baranya county, collected throughout long years in a systematised form. We closed the data collection on 1 st December 1999. However, for the sake of completeness, we included the works published until the 31 st December 1999 on an additional page. During the previous 6 years we completed our work, which was published as a limited edition, as a manuscript - under the support of the Hungarian Association of Numismatists - including 1176 items. The new items represent partially new publications, which appeared ever since and partially old works detected in the course of the research work, which have not been included in the list yet. Therefore the volume of the manuscript was doubled. As a result, the more than 2300 items related to Pécs and Baranya can be considered as a significant database even in a national comparison, since the general national bibliography of Hungarian numismatics published in 1977 contains some 7000 items.
