Imre KEREKES: The Professional Association in Baranya The corporative Professional Association aimed to regain people estranged from the Catholic Church by renewing its organisations. The movement, fully developed by 1941 in Pécs, wished to turn people into the right direction in the area of moral and social sensitivity and faith. Its activity expanded into politics, safeguarding of interest and cultural life. The association was successful! in incorporating the élite of the city: jurists, university professors, teachers, writers and poets. Its workers' college and lecture courses made it possible to get a certificate for lower educated inhabitants. The association was against any extremist political movements, including social-democracy and right-wing groups. There was only one clash with the 'Arrow-Cross' right-wing group, when the latter wanted to disturb their meeting. Outside Pécs they had only one organisation, in Mohács. Their main achievements were that they kept out many people from extremist movements and decreased cultural inequalities. István LENGVÁRI: The correspondance of János Dombay II. The letters of Gábor Faragho and János Dombay The article, a second in a series, publishes some letters of János Dombay (1900-1961), archaeologist and director of Baranya County Museum. The letters, found in his bequest in the Baranya County Archives, contain many unknown historiographical data. This paper deals with the connection of Dombay and Gábor Faragho (1890-1953), who was an artillery commander in Pécs from 1935. Later he worked in the Ministry of Defence and in 1944 he signed the ceasefire agreement with the Soviet-Union. By 1938 Dombay became the leader of the newly founded County Museum and started to work as a professional archaeologist, and was accepted by major specialists, even though that he had no degree in archaeology at that time. Apart from showing their personal relationship, the latters describes how public collections and scientific research was supported by people of higher social status. Their connection was stopped in 1938, when Faragho was appointed to military attaché in the Soviet-Union. János RAYMANN: Small change money of Pécs newspapers of 1919 By the end of 1919 small change money almost disappeared from circulation, causing problems for newsstands. Since the salesmen were unable to give change back, some local newspapers with higher circulation (Dunántúl, Pécsi Est, Pécsi Napló, Hír, Munkás, Pécsi Kereskedelmi Közlöny) issued vouchers. These papers were worth 50 fillér, the price of one copy, and were successfull. Later the vouchers were later replaced by local coins issued by the municipal administration. After that the usage of private and company vouchers were forbidden.
