Virginia Jó: prototype of a kitchen water filter (2013) Material: unglazed ceramics (low fired clay) with silver colloid coating; glazed ceramics; plastic spigot Height (with lid and base): 45.5 cm; greatest width: 31 cm; volume: 2.5 1 The ceramic filter was made with a press mould and the body was wheel-thrown. Inv. no. 2016.6.1.1—4. 2. Lujza Kocsis: protoype of a garden water filter (2013) Material: unglazed ceramics (low fired clay) with silver colloid coating, wood, string, plastic spigot Height (with lid): 55 cm; greatest width: 38 cm; volume: 20 1 The ceramic filter was made with a press mould and the body was made with the coiling technique. Inv. no. 2016.7.1.1 —4. 3 3. Gyöngyvér Varga: protoype of a double-wall cooler (2013) Material: unglazed ceramics (low fired clay), wax-coated textile cord Inner container: Height (with lid): 34 cm; greatest width: 31 cm; useable volume: 10 1 Outer container: Height: 40.4 cm; greatest width: 50.5-51 cm The containers were made with the coiling technique. Inv. no. 2016.8.1.1-4. 4. Virginia Jó, Lujza Kocsis, Gyöngyvér Varga: prototype of the socially beneficial water filter (2013) Material: unglazed ceramics (low fired clay) with silver colloid coating, plastic container with lid, plastic spigot Height (with filter and lid): 39 cm; greatest width: 34 cm; volume: 25 1 The ceramic filter was made with a press mould. Inv. no. 2016.9.1-3. The Museum of Applied Arts served as the venue for four exhibitions1 and three fairs2 during Budapest Design Week 2015. These numbers are significant not only because they correlate with the institution’s long­term goals of more vigorously displaying and collecting examples of Hungarian de­sign culture, but because these exhibitions provided a pretext for expanding the Con­temporary Design Collection established in 2014. The opening exhibition of Design Week, Home Sweet Home, was staged in the cen­tral part of the museum’s ground floor ar­cade. One of the enduring values of the ex­hibition was the presentation of numerous 153
