the Collection of Egg Art Museum, Zengő­várkony', inaugurated by Rózsa N. Nienhaus, general director of the Egg Art Museum, was a real Easter surprise. The exhibition, organised by Eszter Tiszavári, was open to the public until 4 April. The annual report exhibition of the artists of Lajos Kozma Scholarship for Crafts and Design Exhibition was open from 1 to 27 March 2005. It was the second time that the Museum of Applied Arts has housed an exhibition of the prize-winning competitive designs of the national secondary-school educational compe­tition on visual arts (organised by Béla Zombo­ry, senior university lecturer of the Hungarian University of Craft and Design, Department of Teacher Training). The display 'Visual Art Competition 2005 - Natural Elements' was open from 12 March to 10 April. The former and present students of the Vocational Secondary School of Fine Arts and Applied Arts call the school 'Kisképző'. It is the oldest art school in Hungary, whose predecessor, the Buda Drawing School was established in 1778, at the Maria Theresa's order. The exhibition 'kisképző.hu - Exhibition of the Oldest Hun­garian Art School' was organised by the present students of the school, under the guidance of the teacher István Bodóczky from the relics of the long functioning of the school. The inaugu­ral was given by György Habsburg, ambassa­dor extraordinary and plenipotentiary; subse­quently, the students made a fashion show. The exhibition was open to the public from 7 to 20 April. The exhibition 'Prayers Locked in Bronze. 500 Russian Metal Icons from the Rublev Mu­seum, Moscow, and Hungarian Public Collec­tions' was organised as an event of the year of Russian culture. At the inaugural Valeri Musa­tov, ambassador extraordinary and plenipoten­tiary of the Russian Federation, András Bozóky, Minister of the National Heritage and Professor Jean Blankoff (Belgium) delivered speeches. The exhibition was open from 26 April to 10 July. The material displayed was selected by the art historian Dr. György Ruzsa; he organised the exhibition with the assistance of the research workers of the goldsmith craft section, who arranged high-standard pro­grammes for the professionals and the public: in May and June, presentations, musical events, scientific lectures, programmes for children and projections took place. Dan Reisinger (b. 1934), an Israeli artist of Hungarian origin, is one of the most appreciat­ed contemporary representatives of applied graphics in Israel. His oeuvre contains more than 200 logos, 250 posters and numerous designs of packing, postage stamps, calendars and exhibitions. In 1988 he was the first design­er to win the highest state prize of his country, the Israel Prize, which is awarded to those who produce outstanding works in the field of sci­ences, literature, theatre and architecture. The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the Embassy of the State of Israel organised an exhibition of his oeuvre at the Museum of Applied Arts. The exhibition 'Ways' was inaugurated on 9 May by Dr. András Benedek, state secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and David Admon, ambassador of the State of Israel; Dr. Miklós Bendzsel, president of the Hungarian Patent Office expressed appreciation for the works of art from a professional's point of view. The Talon Austro-Hungarian Playing Card Association and the Bube, Dame, König German Playing Card Association arranged their annual general assembly in May 2005. On this occasion, Györgyi Nagy, a research worker of the section of minor collections, in coopera­tion with the playing card expert Antal Jánoska, organised an exhibition from the Museum's significant card collection. The exhibition 'Card - Game - Chance' (open from 14 May until the end of the year) displays cards from each period, from woodcut cards from the 16 ,h century to 20 ,h-century Hungarian works. At the inaugural, in the presence of the members of the above-mentioned card associations, the actor and director Róbert Koltai talked about his 'card experiences'. Several events of the muse­um were related to this exhibition, including those of the Night of Museums, where those interested had the opportunity to play cards,
