Béla KELÉNYI: „...May They Here Increase! May All Gather Together!" A Woodprint and its Inscriptions from the Mongolian Collection of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Arts, Budapest

find a text of this title and type in the collected works of the 1 st Panchen Lama; it is likely that the 3 rd Panchen Lama (bLo bzang dpal Idan ye shes) is meant here. I did not find the text quoted above in the table of contents for his collected works, 45 but the texts of the woodprint quote almost word for work from his work rLung rta stobs Idan yar bskyed, which can be found in the BSKYEDBSANGS (see Footnote 13). 46 Among the authors of the texts we find the 3 rd Panchen Lama's famous contemporary the 2 nd Peking Lean shya Qutugtut (see Footnote 16). The first syllable of the third author's name is illegible on both MC prints; according to the PC print it is tshegs [sic] Zhang pa' i 'bio gros. In the three versions of BSANGSGSOL the name is written in three different ways: cho sras bZhad pa' i bio gros (BSANGSGSOL/a, lb2); cho s sra bZhad pa'i bio gros (BSANGSGSOL/b; and tshe sras bZhad pa'i bio gros (BSANGSGSOL/c, lb2), lb2). From all this we may conclude that this author was a young monk named chos sras (chos smra perhaps?) bZhad pa' i bio gros, who in all likelihood compiled the texts featuring in the picture. Although I have found no data whatever on the last author, on the basis of the other authors quoted we may conclude that this type of woodprint could have been made in the late 18 th century, perhaps not least for Mongolia, where pictures of similar character and function have come to light. 47 BIBLIOGRAPHY Tibetan sources: MDOSCHOG mDos chog sna tshogs byung ba'i rlung rta bskyed pa'i mdo chog.
