At his shoulders attributes indicating Manjushri (the sword and die book) can be seen. Amit ay us dhyanibuddha, "Unending Life" meditation buddha Gilded bronze statuette cast witii lost wax process. China or Tibet, 19th century. Height: 24 cm. Base width: 17,8 cm. Amitayus is a specific manifestation of the Amitabha dhyanibudha, the meditation buddha of die present aeon. He sits on a double-lotus throne in meditative position {dhyanasana). The main attribute, die ka­lasa, a can with die drink of immortality (amrita), is absent. On his hair the flaming gem, the cintamani, is to be seen. The di­adem widi die five precious stones on his head as well as die hair, painted originally in blue, all stress the peaceful character of the deity. Its interior is empty, the sacred objects placed tiiere are absent. It is dam­aged on the neck and on the back. The character of the face, die shaping of the body and its ornaments show a strong Chinese influence (in this respect it is sim­ilar to the pieces of the Csapck Collection of the same age, acquired by the Museum in 1988). Wayang golek puppet Painted wood carving, cotton, silk. Indonesia, 20th century. Height: 70 cm. An eminent warrior on the side of the Pandavas in vayang golek purva perform­ances.
