KRTF 2419/4 18.5x19.5 cm p.tempera marked The spontaneously placed, overlapping flowers recall the atmosphere of flower gardes; each pattern is an evocative collage, as if it were a part of nature. The versatility of die drawings is determined by nature, with all the varied beauty and colours of the innumerable flower species. Bellflowers (KRTF 2198), daffodils (KRTF 2201), pinks (KRTF 2204) and racemose flowers (KRTF 2188) appear from among the crowded mass of flowers. The dark bachground (green, brown, black, dark lilac) enlivens the various, realistic spring and summer flowers widi bright (pink, lilac, orange, red, blue, yellow) petals. The contrast of the serious, dark and the joyful bright colours, and the use of contrasdve, daring colours dominate the stereoscopic compositions. The faithful illustration of reality is helped by the playfull application of light and shadow. 12-18. Realistic compositions of flowers and leaves, in pastel colours 12. KRTF 2419/6 19.6x22 an p.tempera marked The spontaneous, realistic compositions described above are repeated here in light colours; the pictures are characterized by fine shades and pastel colours. White is dominant; it turns each flower into a certain translucent, light kind of red, green, blue and yellow, enriched with a whitish shine. The larger flowers are enclosed by a great number of small plants; one of the drawings shows roses, surrounded by small flowers, in die centre of rich floral ornaments (KRTF 2181), while in others almost die whole surface is covered by bellflowers and daisies (KRTF 2183). The disign seems to become more varied; besides spontaneous collage, pictures are structured centrally, or the flowers are arranged in stripes or wavy lines (KRTF 2419/5). Among the realistic flowers we can depict a more simple-almost stylised—plant, similar to daisy, where the stamens and the pistil are enclosed by four or five small petals. 19. Point illistic flower composition 19. KRTF 2185 20.2x17.5 cm p.tempera marked This piece is characterized by the combination of spontaneous collage and the extremely bright colours of the flower motifs; it differs from all of the others in the pointillistic way of painting. The three-dimensional space, the play with light and shadow, as well as the realistic modelling are broken, vanish; the picture is a heap of small spots, clear colour stains, which on the whole create the pattern.
