Commemorative tablecloth Austrian or Hungarian, c. 1850 Linen damask 181 x 143 cm The symmetrical weaving follows the pic­torial damasks of the 17th —18th centuries. The middle field is decorated with the Hungarian coats of arms at the top, with the inscription „Ansicht von Pcsth" below. The sight of Pest with the Franciscan Church, the City Church and the Town Hall appears in the middle. At the bottom of the city scene we can see the Danube, with tow-boats and steam boats; there are an­glers and people planting trees on the right (Buda) bank of the river. The blue, red and coffee coloured checked frame is enriched with alternating flowers and small capsular fruits. Purchased from Eva Strausz. Inv. No. 90. 61. 1 5. Communion cloth Transylvania, c. 1740 Linen, embroidered with silver 90 x 72 cm Each corner shows a curling, flowery bough with leaves, which encloses a pome­granate. The border is lined with a braided, narrow silver thread, creating five small loops on each side. Purchased from Dr. István Mikó Inv. No. 90. 59. 1 6. Communion cloth Transylvania, c. 1740 Linen, embroidered with silver 96 x 96 cm The four corners are decorated with enter­twined flower stems, each embellished with one big and three small, closed pome­granates. Dress of a little girl Kornél Katsinka, 1890s Pink and white checked, thin cotton, with pink linen Length: 77 cm The dress is made of checked cotton, while the upright collar, the cuffs and the shoulder line which reaches down at the front in a V-shape is of pink linen. The set-in sleeves are ruffled, the shoulders are covered with ruffled frills. Pleated all round; opposing pleats at the front. Buttons up at the back. Purchased from Mrs. J. Zlinszky. Inv. Lady's bathing suit: dress and trousers Hungary, c. 1910 Red, with narrow trimming of white linen, white linen decoration Dress length: 98 cm; Trousers length: 63 cm The dress has Japanese sleeves; it is open at the front and closes with snap fasteners. The neckline is rectangular. The dress is trimmed with a white linen ribbon on the sleeves, at the front, round the neckline and along the legs of the trousers.
