Richter-type box of building bricks, 4 sets The Dr. Richter Design Institute, Rudolf­stadt (Thuringia), from the 1880s Artificial stone, zinc-plated iron, in wooden box Boxes: b. 35 cm, h. 13 cm, L. 25.3 cm b. 35.3 cm, h. 12.7 cm, L. 25 cm b. 40.5 cm, h. 9.2 cm, L. 30 cm b. 40 cm, h. 9 cm, L. 29.6 cm The bridge-building kit No. 10 and the building-brick cases of the new series No. 10/C, 20/B, 24 B form a construction set. The boxes contain three or two removable trays whose compartments hold hundreds of building pieces. The stones of various shapes-prisms, cylinders, cones, and arch­es-and of various measurement are red, white and grey. To facilitate the assembly of the metal pieces screws are provided in two small boxes. The sets are supple­mented with patterns, plans and broad­sheets, much like catalogues, describing the various elements. Embossed calf parchment binding, on paperboard. L. 30 cm, b. 21 cm The cover, marbled in brownish, is dec­orated in semi-classicist style with an olive branch between two columns. The tooling at the top is grey; the trimming is made of leather. The name of the author and the title of the work are impressed on the spine. Inscribed on the inside of the upper cover in the middle is: "J. A. SZIRMAI". The binding is protected with a case covered in natural linen. L. 19.1 cm, b. 13.6 cm The geometric decoration of the cover in black includes a square-grid pattern placed in the four corners which creates a hexa­gonal field. On its four-ribbed spine de­coration composed of the same motifs is to be seen. In the second field from above appear the name of the author and the title of the work. At the top there is gilt tooling. The hemming in green and purple is hand­sewn. The book is supplied with a book­mark made of green silk. Fitted in a dark­grey paperboard box hemmed with leather.
