211. 21. Ryujin's attendant or messenger. Wood. Heigt: 6 cm. (Fig. 20) In a Chinese-style dress. Hair and beard are curly, there is a snail on the head, and a ball with three holes, which encloses a smaller one (tama), in the hand. Worn. Unsigned. Chinese man with bamboo shoots. Wood. Height: 4,7 cm. (Fig. 21) There is a feathered hat on the head of the man, and a sickle under the cut and bound bamboo sprouts. Large, smooth surfaces, round forms. Presumably made about the middle of the 18th century. Unsigned. 126
