Anthrop. Hung. XLII. 1974. Some Data to the Anthropology of the Population of North Plain Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest ABSTRACT: In this paper author is examining the osteological material of an Arpadian cemetery from the North Plain. She elaborates the material of an altogether 108 graves. She gives a general characterization of the males and females. She discusses different anatomical variations and abnormalities. Some special interest is paid to a symbolic trepanation on a male and a female skull. The taxonomic analysis shows that the anthropological facies of the males and females is different. Finally author compares her material with other series excavated also in Hungary. Several cemeteries from the Arpadian age have been excavated at different places in Hungary. A part of their anthropological material has already been studied and described, but the material of Beveral cemeteries is still elaborated (ERY, 1968). The study of the material of a relatively lesser number of cemeteries has been done from the North part of Hungary than from the rest of the country. By studying the material of this cemetery I propose to submit new data to the better knowledge of the population in this area. The devastated Arpadian village lies 6,5 km West of Tiszalök, near Rázom farm. In the course of the digging for the Tiszalök dam in 1950 a hillock was carried off, revealing some graves. During this work probably several hundreds of graves were destroyed .The excavation led by István MÉRI succeeded in rescuing LOTTERHOF, Edit THE CIRCUMSTANCES OP THE EXCAVATION
