8 AMERIKAI MAGYAR sZO Thursday, Nov. 28. 1991 ORVOS A CSALÁDBAN A hólyagrák A rosszindulatú daganatok 3 százaléka hólyagrák. A férfiak háromszor gyakrabban betegszenek meg, mint a nók. Az ipari államokban az utolsó húsz évben egyre több hólyagtumoros megbetegedés figyelhető meg. Bár a hólyagrák egyértelműen az idősebb korosztály betegségének nevezhető, a paciensek 50 százaléka negyven év alatt van. ( RIZIKÓFAKTOROK A különösen veszélyeztetettek csoportjába a dohányzók, a festék és gumiiparban dolgozók és azok tartoznak, akik hosszabb időn keresztül rendszeresen fájdalomcsillapítót használtak. Krónikus hólyaghurut és az akadályozott vizeletürítés szintén kedvez a tumorképződésnek. SZŰRŐVIZSGÁLAT A legegyszerűbb és legfontosabb szűrővizsgálat a laboratóriumi vizeletvizsgálat, melynek segítségével minimális mennyiségű vér is kimutatható. A rizikócsoporthoz tartozó személyeknek ezt a vizsgálatot negyven év fölött évente ajánlott elvégeztetni. FIGYELMEZTETŐ VESZJELEK A fájdalommentes véres vizeletürítés a hólyagrák legfontosabb ismertetője. Ilyen esetben azonnal orvoshoz kell fordulni. Bár az égető fájdalom vizelésnél, a gyakori vizelési inger és a vizelés után fellépő szúrós fájdalmak a húgyúti fertőzés jellemzői, a hólyag daganatos megbetegedésére is figyelmeztethetnek. E panaszok esetén orvosi vizsgálatra van szükség. DIAGNÓZIS A húgyvezeték ultrahangos és röntgenes vizsgálata, a vizelet tumorsejtre való vizsgálata, hólyagtükrózés és a szövettani lelet adnak biztos választ kérdéses esetekben. KEZELÉS A hólyag belső felületén található daganatot - műszerek segítségével - a hügycsövön át távolitják el. Mivel a beavatkozás utáni újraképződés nagyon gyakori, az orvos által előirt ellenőrzéseket szigorúan be kell tartani. The president of Hungary said here that he was "too moved" to thank New Jersey Rotarians who made it possible for nine young Hungarians to come to the United States for heart surgery they could not have had at home. New Jersey District 7470 of Rotary International expects to bring 50 more Hungarians to the Garden State and New York during the next three years under its Gift of Life program. Rotary International began the program about 10 yearns ago to bring people from around the world to the United States for cardiac surgery. "The idea of the movement are .very noble and very practical", President Arpad Göncz said over brunch at the Sheraton Hotel in Fairfield. "It is idealistic." Dr. Joseph Cotroneo performs surgery for the Gift of Life at Children's Hospital of New Jersey, a unit of United Hospitals Medical Center in Newark. Some Hungarian doctors are able to perform heart surgery, but because of a lack of physicians and facilities, between 100 and 150 Hungarians must do without the surgery each year. Göncz told 250 Rotarians and their friends that he taught himself English while a political prisoner in the 1950s and 1960s, and did not have the ability to express his gratitude that Hungary was included in the program this year. Sitting next to him during brunch was Stuart Keil, governor of District 7470. He said Göncz made him feel Hungary was pleased to have been included in the program because as a newly democratic country, it was often left out of service programs. "Their economy is not very good" he said. "So every little bit is appreciated." District 7470, which includes 60 clubs in northern New Jersey, has paid to have about 90 people undergo heart surgery at Children's Hospital and the Long Island Jewish Hospital Center, past district governor Joseph Seidel said. The district joined the Gift of Life program in 1984. The youngest patient the district has ever helped was less than 1 year old and the oldest was 20, Anita Oláh, 19, arrived in the United States Sept. 27th. She had surgery on Long Island Oct. 24. "We cannot express how fortunate and thankful we feel" said Anita's mother, Katalin Oláh. Home Box Office On October 5th Time Warner and United Communications International, two major US media companies, launched the movie channel offshoot of Home Box Office (HBO) in Hungary via the joint venture Kabelkom KFT. Robert M. Leighton, programming managing director, explained: "Three American companies are involved in the 100 percent US owned venture - Time Warner and United Communications International, which is itself a Mixed Company. One of its partners is United International Holdings, a US-based cable operator and the other is USWest, which in addition to providing telecom services in the US, has a cellular phone service in Hungary. We plan to spend somewhere between 20 and 30 million dollars here in the next few years to upgrade the cable TV and create new Hungarian language programs." HBO offered 3 movies for 6 hours a day, which do not carry commercials. They are a subscriber supported service and are offering the movie channel to about 135.000 homes in five different cable systems. These cover Debrecen, Pécs, Dunaújváros, Veszprém and Budapest's 11th district. They hope to expand this towards the end of the year.
