INVITATION TO SYNOD MEETING is hereby extended to our constituent congregations and friends. The meeting will be held in the Holiday Inn of Ligonier, Pa. from Monday morning, April 27 through Wednesday evening, April 29, 1970.

Detailed information will be mailed as soon as possible, but consistories should act now on the following items:

(1) Elect official delegate and an alternate (it is advantageous if the person speaks both languages) ; (2)

Send in the $85 Travel Equalization Quota to the Synod Treasurer at your earliest convenience; (3) Let us all earnestly pray that our gathering may be well-pleasing in His sight... (4) Suggestions and recommendations are to be sent to the President’s office before April 15, 1970.

OUR SYNOD MEETING, although it is primarily an administrative gathering, will try to accomplish two other tasks as well:

(1) One session (Wednesday morning) will be devoted to an informal, educational discussion on problems we face in these days in our churches;

(2) On Wednesday evening a Testimonial Dinner will be given in honor of the Rt. Rev. Mathias Daroczy, first

president of our Synod, and of Dr. Arthur R. Moor, the legal advisor of our fellowship.

THE REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA is no longer printed in the Bethlen Freedom Press as the Conference Council awarded the new contract to the Standard Press.

This decision was based on economy: a saving of approximately $1,200 per year. The practical aspects were also a factor: distance, mailing, and other difficulties proved to be unsur- mountable handicaps... But one of the most important reasons was that recently the Bethlen Freedom Press exercised such censureship in the publication of our paper that we no longer felt assured of objective cooperation.

We try everything in our power to mail the March issue before Easter, but if you have to wait, you know its reason. Your patience and understanding is appreciated by us all.

THE LEGAL OPINION in regard to the decisions of the Bethlen Home Board of Directors Annual Meeting on Sept. 4,1969, which was prepared by Dr. Arthur R. Moor, legal advisor of our Synod and by Dr. H. G. Schick of Philadelphia, Pa., was mailed to Dr. Z. Beky on March 2, 1970. The Conference Council respectfully requested the forthcoming annual spring meeting of the Board of Directors of the Federation to consider and discuss it in order to give us an official answer to our complaints.

THE CONFERENCE COUNCIL met in New York City on February 23, 24 and 25, 1970. Treasurer Rev. Mar- salko reported that in addition to our Basic Support ($6,294.61), we were

able to spend $7,684.06 for Synod Mission. This is an encouraging sign!

... Rev. Vitéz reported on the Reformátusok Lapja and in addition to the budget, plans were formulated to make the Lapja solvent . . . The Council recommends four Synod Appeal Projects for 1970: (1) Aid to Churches in Hungary, (2) Ref. Lapja Emergency Fund, (3) Heart-Lung Machine Fund, and (4) South American Mission Projects .. .

THE LOS ANGELES E&R CHURCH officially decided to cultivate the “dual membership” fellowship with our Synod. Of course, their pastor, the Rev. Julius Paal has full standing with us. We joyfully greet him and his congregation at this occasion with Gal. 6:10.

IN FLINT, MICH, the Rev. Dr. Joseph A. Zsíros will be installed on April 19.

IN BRIDGEPORT, CONN, the beautiful educational center is shaping up. The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America provides the necessary loan.
