Egyház tagjához A Reformátusok Lapja novemberi számában felhívást intéztünk olvasóinkhoz, hogy tehetségükhöz mérten adakozzanak a három teológiai szeminárium javára. A legelső adomány, mely a szerkesztői hivatalba befutott, özv. Szekeres Károlynétól érkezett, ki 81-ik életévében jár. Dr. L. W. László Harangi has informed me of your generous memorial gift to the United Seminary Appeal. He adds that yours is the first such contribution in response to an appeal made by him in the Reformátusok Lapja. Your long life has brought you many burdens and great sorrows. It is evident that through it all you have found strength and comfort through your faith in the steadfast love of your heavenly Father as it is revealed in his son, Jesus Christ. This faith sustained you when the Lord called from your side your husband, four sons and, more recently, your son-in-law. Your contribution is like unto that of the widow in the Gospel story who gave “all her living”. You gave it in order that this faith which sustained you may be proclaimed to others by young men and women prepared for such witnessing in our seminaries. You come from a people who have always believed in a thorough preparation for the Christian ministry. In 1948 it was my privilege to visit the Reformed Seminaries in Hungary. At that time there were four: Sárospatak, Debrecen, Pápa and Budapest. Many of our ablest ministers were educated in one of these schools. Your love for God and your fellowman has prompted you to assist in the education of pastors in the three seminaries of the Evangelical and Reformed Church. For this I desire to express my sincere affection coupled with the prayer that God may richly bless you with his gifts of grace and cause the evening of your life to be bright with the light of his love.
