GYEREKEK. A Márk evangéliumáról szóló feladat megfejtését kevesen küldték be. Ebből azt gondolom, hogy nincsen minden házban biblia, vagy ha van is, nem olvassátok. Olvassátok el csak most mindjárt, amit egy New Brunswick-i leánykának üzenek! Próbáljátok csak ti is figyelmesen olvasni a bibliát. Meglátjátok, mennyi mindent ismertek meg belőle! Varga Jolánka, New Brunswick, N. J. Azt írod, hogy amikor belenéztél a kis bibliádba és elkezdted olvasni, azt vetted észre, hogy te azokat a történeteket mind tudod, tanultad a vasárnapi iskolában. Elhiszem neked, hogy sok bibliai történetet tudsz és örülök is neki. De próbáld csak meg végigolvasni a Márk evangéliumát, fogol találni még sokat, amit nem ismersz. Csak arra vigyázz, hogy egyszerre ne olvassál sokat. Még egy fejezet is sok néha. Legjobb olvasni egyszerre csak egy történetet és gondolkozni rajta. Mielőtt hozzáfogol, imádkozzál, hogy Istennek Szent Lelke segítsen megérteni azt, amit olvasol és gondolj arra mindennap, hogy amit olvastál, hiszed-é azt és igyekezel-é megtartani? Remélem, ezután többször kapok tőled levelet. Szives üdvözlet. Varga Sárika, Elyria, O. A feladat, amelyet most küldtél, kicsit nehéz, ezért nem tehetem be az újságba. A másik, a régi pedig olyan feladat, hogy annak semmi hasznát nem veszi senki, ha—tudja is, kik voltak Jób leányai. Én magam sem tudom. Ezért ezt sem tehetem be. De te olyan ügyes leány vagy, hogy tudsz küldeni könnyebbet, hasznosabbat és jobbat, ha akarsz. Csak gondolkozzál. Várom az uj feladatot. Már megint beküldtél 10 megfejtést. In the middle of his sermon he raised his eyes to the sky and called out: “Father Abraham, Whom have you in heaven? Episcopalians? Lutherans? Presbyterians?” “No, came his own thunderous reply — children of God are there!” If there ever was a people, a denomination sorely in need of unity — it is our people and our denomination. I know of a number of our floundering churches, with hardly 30—40 families on their roll, that have been disgracefully disrupted by a few ignoble, disgruntled individuals. My face burned with shame whenever I witnessed or heard of such shameful perpetrations. I thought our unweary God must have smiled pitifully upon us when He saw what things we dared to do in His name and to His “glory.” What can we do to blot out permanently this hateful spirit? How can we, as young people, help cement a happy unity among our own people? Firstly, we ought to remember and endear our common, shared heritage. We are Magyars by race and református by religion. This is the basis and core oneness. Then secondly, we should ever bear in mind our common goal, our common purpose: of becoming better Christians. I also want strongly to urge you to continue your great and fruitful laoors in behalf of your local societies as well as the ..ational Y. P. gatherings First — I am sure you will all concur with me — first we must have unity and solidarity amongst our own kind before we attempt to persuade others to become one and of like mind. Here we are — we mortals constantly engaged in a hectic search for the golden fountain of Happiness. John Dewey suggests no unattainable goal when he states that such happiness as life is capable of comes from the full participation of all our powers in attempt to wrest from each situation its own full and unique meaning. That is what we young people tried to gain from the Lackawanna C. E. conference and, judging by the contagious enthusiasm that prevailed there, most of us accomplished that purpose. Now we are back again well on the road of our winter’s program. And let us hope
