At the opening of the Fall Season our Young People’s Society met as usual to decide upon a project or plan for the coming year. Last year we had studied Politics for about two months and Religion for the rest of the year. There were so many fine suggestions that we hardly knew which to adopt but we finally agreed to study Chinese Missions. Two years ago when we studied the Young People’s Movements all over the world we also included China but this year we want to study it more thoroughly and to have it take the form of a mission study group or course. Three reasons prompted our choice: first, we know very little of missions, either foreign or national; second, the Presbyterian church has adopted China as the topic for foreign mission study this year and; third, we really want to know more of that country where history is being made daily. As a basis for our study we are using the book, “As It Looks to Young China” edited by William Hung. It contains such fascinating chapters as: Setting Confucius aside, The Family, The School, The Vocation, The Nation, The World, The Church. We have already begun and find the book thoroughly readable, enjoyable and understandable. We shall study for about two months and then climax our project with a social. The neighboring societies and all others who desire will be cordially invited to our Chinese Tea Party where we shall try to impart to those who come some understanding of China as we see her and her problems. Small though our society is we shall try to learn how we may help China and thus ourselves. For you have probably discovered by this time that our world has become so small that when we help someone in it no matter how far they are from us we are really helping ourselves too. The Pioneers have heard of our project and asked if they might not join us and so in their society they are studying “The Young Revolutionists” by Pearl S. Buck and they too will participate in our Chinese Tea Party and will contribute their share towards its enjoyment and value. Won’t the rest of you write and tell what you are doing in your C. E. or Young People’s Society? Anna Nyeső, President Lackawanna Y. P. S. MAGYAR SZEMLE. A templomnak is. * * * A NAGYAPÁINK templomos élete ujul föl itt is, szülőhazánk földjén. Olvassuk, hogy több
