AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA 7 AZ IFJÚSÁG KÖRÉBŐL. THE SPIRITUAL CIRCLE, The night is dark! The camp fire is burning low! Everything is quiet! The stars up above in the heavens are blinking down on a little group gathered around the dying embers! Through the weeping willows the wind is sighing, sighing softy, lest it should disturb the little group! A voice rings out into the stillness, as if the earth itself were speaking — someone is praying. The prayers grip my soul and carry it up to the throne of God. A hymn is started and as I stand there, voices blending together all about me, I feel someone taking hold of my hand. Warmth enfolds my soul. The little circle seems to be spreading, spreading into eternity, and yet I am always standing there inside of the circle. My one hand, Jesus is holding, the other hand is always in a brother’s. I look down the road of life and am not afraid. Always a brother traveler is with me, even tho I do not know his name. On the dusty roads as we travel together, I can say to him, “Don’t cry” — and if my tears are falling, he wipes them away. Unhappy? No, someone is holding my Other hand, and I hear a voice saying “Be of good cheer!” Young people, the Christian Endeavor is the great fellowship that is offered to you, to know Christ, to walk with Him and with those who understand us — what more can our soul desire! Youth is forever questioning, never taking 'things for granted. It is in Christian Endeavor, then, that youth can solve its problems. Christian Endeavor has always had an open mind, for it has encouraged experiment and has always profited by experience. In Christian Endeavor you find unity in spirit, belief in religious life for yourng people, expressed in forms suited to young life. Ideals, all young people have ideals. But the real ideal comes into view when you have felt the comradeship of people who are traveling the same road you are, and who are looking toward the same goal — JESUS CHRIST. The spirit of Christian Endeavor helps you to attain this goal, for it will not lower i'ts standard of living to meet the wishes of the indifferent and wordly minded. There are times iin our lives when we ache to feel the touch of a human hand when we’d like to pour our soul to someone who would understand. You will find the place in Christian Endeavor, in your Consecration Meetings, where you may share each other’s load. Your Master is there saying, “Connie unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give1 you rest. Take my voke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest uni to your souls.” Have you ever knelt in prayer with one who loves you, understand you? You feel the very portals of heaven open to you. This is what you may experience in C. E. A chain is woven from you to God, each C. E. member a separate link, yet each link depending on the other to make the holy chain complete. Spiritual Benefit — what more can I ask then, that in that circle of the C. E., I may stand, that I may feel 'the warm clasp of a friendly hand, and that I may hear His voice whispering close to me: “Yes, I see this path is best for thee” — and my own answer, “Yes, this path is best for me!” Elizabeth Komáromy. A LEGGAZDAGABB KARÁCSONYFA.
