Amerikai Magyar Reformátusok Lapja, 1932 (33. évfolyam, 1-53. szám)

8 AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA aims to preserve the social, spiritual and characteristically Hungarian values of our churches. This Federation has already given life-insurance to thousands and thousands of Hungarian people, yet the leaders feel that the Federation will fail in the full accomplishment of its purposes unless successful provisions are made to establish solid contacts between the Federation and the rising generation of Hungarians. The society cannot be satisfied to serve the older generation of Hungarians only, it must also strengthen the ties between itself and the youth which will constitute its future membership. With this purpose in mind, the Executive Committee decided to arrange a big camp conference each year. The plan is to change the place of these conferences each year, according to the territorial divisions of the Hungarian Reformed Churches into Eastern, Central and Western districts. This year the conference will be held in the Central district in Ligonier, Pa. The conference will begin on July 1st, at five o’clock, P. M., Eastern Standard Time, and end on July 4th, four o’clock P. M. For these three days a very rich and varied program is planned. It will include stimulating addresses, great opportunities to make friends, to enjoy fellowship with one another, to meet the young people of our different churches, to refresh your body by play and outdoor life. We want to emphasize that there is something exceptional about this conference. First of all, that this is the first youth conference of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. This great society is a strong bond of union between the Reformed bodies of Hungarian Churches in America. It has been established and built up by the sacrificial labors of our parents. They want to hand over this great institution to us. They have not spared any labor and sacrifice to make this conference for us and thereby establish a closer contact between the young people and the Federation. Secondly, the camp conference will be held on the grounds of the Hungarian Reformed Orphanage at Ligonier, Pa., which is the only common charity institution for the Hungarians. This institution was established eleven (11) years ago. Since that time the Orphanage has been taking care of hundreds of Hungarian children. Our young people could not find a more opportune time to become acquainted with this home which is their heritage. In the third place, we must remember that no camp conference has yet been held for the Hungarian young people. The conferences of Hungarian youth have hitherto been held in cities, the members of the conference being accomodated in private homes. The program of these conferences, as a rule, has tended to be too crowded and has left few opportunities for recreation. Now, this conference will be an outdoor affair. You will enjoy the sunshine, the fresh air of the Ligonier hills. You will have plenty of time for your favorite sports. Those who have been boy or girl scouts know the experience of living outdoors in the happy fellowship of friends. Come and enjoy sunshine, swimming, hiking and outdoor life with us! The generosity of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America makes it possible that the only fee required of the members of the conference will be the Registration Fee of one dollar. The detailed instructions and program of the conference will come in the next issues of this paper. COME TO THE CAMP! Rev. St. E. Balogh. (Zsolt. Cili. 2, 3, 4.)
