Hanko notified the Joint Committee which has charge of Reformátusok Lapja, that he could not continue his existing relations with that paper as its editor and business manager because of pastoral claims upon him. At the request of the Committee he consented to remain in charge of the “Reformátusok Lapja” and also to care for “Örömhír” until October, at least; in order that the Committee might have opportunity to arrange otherwise for the papers. This has now been done. But the Committee cannot allow Mr. Hanko to retire without giving public expression to their appreciation of him and of his work upon these publications. Ever since these papers have been in charge of the Committee, now almost four years Mr. Hanko has been connected with them; and for much the greater part of this time he has attend to both the editorial work and business of “Reformátusok Lapja” alone. In our intercourse with him he has not only commanded our respect and confidence but has won our warm regard. We have found him always candid and honest, accurate and thorough, zealous and intelligent. From the outset he has declined any pay for his own work. He has performed it as a labor of love for his Magyar brethren in America and of loyalty to the Church he represented. While some others have worthily shared his labors with him, the paper during these years has been chiefly the product of his effort and self sacrifice. We feel therefore that the gratitude not only of all who who have had charge of the papers, but also of all who have been instructed and helped by it in any way is largerly due to him. The Joint Committee, representing the Presbyterian Board of Publication and Sabbath School Work and the Sunday School Board of the Reformed Church, U. S. is composed of Rev. S. Alexander Henry, D. I)., J. R. Miller, D, D. and Samuel McLanahan of the Presbyterian Church, and Rufusz Miller, D. D. and D. A. Sonders of the Reformed Church and this testimonial is sent to the paper not only in their name but by their direction, with the request that it be printed both in English and Hungarian. lawrenceville, N. Lapja ügyeit intéző közös bizottságot, hogy a lap szerkesztését és ügyvezetését lelkész; teendői • miatt tovább nem vállalhatja. A bizottság kérésére azonban hogy legyen ennek ideje a lapok érdekében intézkedni, még megtartotta hivatalát a Ref. Lapjánál ez év október elsejéig s azt is elvállalta, hogy az „Örömhir“- ről is gondoskodik ezideig. Most, hogy ez idő letelt, a bizottság nem bocsáthatja el tiszt. Hankó ural anélkül, liogy ne fejezné ki neki köszönetét az ő munkájáért, melyet a lapok érdekében majdnem négy éven át teljesített. Mióta ezeknek a lapoknak ügyeit a bizottság intézte, Hankó ur összeköttetésben volt azokkal és idejének nagy részét a Ref. Lapja szerkesztésére és ügyvezetésére fordította. A vele való érintkezésben Hankó ur nemcsak a mi tiszteletünket és bizalmunkat nyerte meg, hanem őszinte becsülésünket is, mert úgy találtuk, hogy ő mindig tiszta és becsületes, pontos, buzgó és értelmes volt. Kezdettől fogva visszautasított minden fizetést munkájáért. Munkáját amerikai magyar testvérei iránt való szeretetből és egyháza iránt való hűségből végezte. S bár néhányan resztvettek az ő munkájában, a lap ezekben az években mégis az ő erős munkájának és ön- feláldozásának terméke volt. Azért nemcsak mi, kik a lap ügyeit intéztük, hanem mindnyájan, kiket segített a lap valami módon, főként iránta érzünk hálát, A közös bizottság, mely a presbyteriánus egyháznak könyvkiadó és vasárnapi iskolai hivatalát és a ref. egyháznak vasárnapi iskolai hivatalát képviseli, a presb. egyház részéről Rév. Alexander Henry, D. D., Rev. J. R. Miller, D. D. és Rev. Samuel McLanahan, a református egyház részéről pedig Rev. Rufus Miller, D. D. és Rev. D. A. Souders urakból áll. Ez az irat a lapban való közlés végett nemcsak a bizottság nevében, de annak utasítására adatik ki azzal a kéréssel, hogy az mind angol, mind magyar nyelven nyomattassék ki. Lawrenceville, N.
