Gleichzeitig mit dem Erscheinen der norditalischen, zumeist aus Aquileia stammenden Kaufleute erschienen auch die italische Import-Gegenstände auf den Märkten von Pannonién. Eine Projizierung auf die Landkarte der in Zala und am Nordufer des Plattensees vorgefundenen italischen Inschriften und der aus Italien stammenden ImportGegenständen (Bild 4) zeichnet die aus dem Bernsteinstrasse abzweigende diagonale Poetovio-Aquincum Strasse aus, Es ist anzunehmen, daß der Handelsverkehr dieser Strasse, bis zum Ende des II. Jahrhunderts, eben durch die Familie Canius abgewickelt wurde. IRÉN BILKEI: The Canius merchant family in Pannónia (Résumé) In the course of rescue excavation they found at Zánka, as the cover of a late Roman grave, in second use, a red sandstone stele fragment. (Picture 1—2). On its heavily effaced inscription we may read the names of several members of the Aquilean Canius family. The inscription may be dated to the end of the 2nd century. Projecting the hitherto known Canius inscriptions upon the map (Picture 3), we may see, that the inscriptions of the merchant family appear first of all around the Amber Road and the road connecting Italy with the limes. Day and date with the inscriptions of the North-Italian, in majority Aquilean merchants, also Italian import goods appeared at the Pannonian markets. The projecting upon the map of the Italic inscriptions and Italian importgoods found in county Zala and on the northern shore of Lake Balaton (Picture 4) design the diagonal road Poetovio — Aquincum, branching off the Amber Road. It may be presumed that the commercial traffic of this road was handled up to the end of the second century, just by the Canius family.
