Benczéné Nagy Eszter: Ebert Antal hagyatékának árverezése
inventory may be considered as typical in view of the above, too. The inventory describes in detail the site of the house, its inside design, the objects which may be found in the rooms, their price and the name of the buyers. It is a pity that they have not enumerated one by one the .tools of smithery, because they were sold in one lot. With the help of the archive material at our disposal it was possible to examine the social position, composition of the buyers. From among the 55 buyers, 4.2 were craftsmen, who were registered by the itemized tax-registrations as „colonus", „inquilinus" or „subinquilinus". It is a highly interesting question as to who where registered as „colonus" out of an agricultural society? This can not be decided out of a single, individual examination. Out of the source-analysis of this individual case and on basis of the already examined bequest-inventories we may draw the conclusion, that the way of life of the burgess' of the market-towns did not very much differ from that of the people of the serf-villages, in many cases maybe it did not even surpass it.
